ĦĦĦĦAs a gift to the ceremony of Macao's return to China,
Wanyi's exquisite palace lanterns will be highly hanged over the main entrance of the conference hall for sovereignty hand-over ceremony.
As Macao is to return to China, two huge mahogany palace lantern made by ten skillful
craftsmen of Jiujiang, Nanhai were finished successfully on September 8 and transported to
Macao on October.
ĦĦĦĦThese two palace
lanterns are 2.7M in height, with a diameter of 3.15M for the lantern body and a weight of
650kg respectively, which cost over RMB10,000. It is the largest palace lantern made by
Wanyi Industrial Co. Ltd. which is specialized in the production of various lanterns and
lighting decorations up to now. The palace lantern is framed by rosewood with frosted
toughened glass as the surface of lantern. The main column is supported by a steel stand
and the lantern body is decorated with hollowed-out carved
Chinese traditional dragon and phoenix after careful making, showing out rich traditional
and national style. The lanterns are designed by Mr. Guan Hongfa who has accumulated over
30 years experiences in craftsmanship. A making team of ten was sent by Wanyi Co. on
August 6. To ensure the sturdiness and durability of palace lantern, special treatment has
been done during most procedures. Best rosewood from Burma are chosen and painted
carefully and repeatedly for many times. Taking consideration of the local climate of
Macao, they made the palace lanterns have storm proof ability against force 8 wind.

Yongjian, the owner of "Wanyi" said excitedly that they are used to see their
products sailing far away across the ocean, but it is the first time to participate in
such a grant and significant ceremony. It is our great honor to send our products to Macao
for the return ceremony. We treasured this opportunity very much and did our best to make
the palace lantern perfectly. Besides, several hundreds of plastic lanterns, silk
lanterns, wire lanterns and color balls produced by Wanyi were delivered to Macao at the
same time, to witness the solemn and grand return ceremony. "Big palace lanterns made

ĦĦĦĦA pair of large Dragon & Phoenix palace lanterns, each of which is 2.7M
in height, with a diameter of 3.15M for the lantern body and a weight of 650kg, were
finished recently in the workshop of Jiujiang Wanyi Industrial Co., Ltd., Nanhai City.
They will be transported to Macao today to attend the ceremony of Macao's return to Chin.
ĦĦĦĦMr.
Mei, the owner of "Wanyi" introduced that this is their first time making such
huge rosewood palace lanterns. On August the 6th, all the skillful craftsmen in their
company started working together, and it cost them only 35 days from accepting the
assignment to delivery. Normally, the diameter of palace lantern don't exceed 1.30 meter,
but these two lanterns are so big that three persons can just get their arms around each.
These lanterns are hexagon, and is decorated with six carved Chinese traditional dragons
and phoenixes respectively up and down, denote luck. Framework of the dragons and
phoenixes are imported rosewood with primitive and stately sculpt, exquisite workmanship.
It is introduced that such sturdy palace lantern can withstand gales.
